What is the Good of Pakistan to Baloch?

By Archen Baloch
For Baloch the meaning of “struggle for rights” has altogether  changed to a sense of stupidity. To Baloch, the character of Pakistani parliamentary politics and peaceful street protests have always been a perpetual curse of 68 years’ self-deception that bore nothing except misery and deprivation. The objective question underlined here marks Pakistan’s nasty relation with Baloch – What is the good of Pakistan to Baloch?
Despite being one of the world richest lands, Balochistan is amongst poorest nations on earth. This sentence contains question marks, therefore, Instead of citing the abysmal social indicators of our society; let us ask the fundamental questions that might help us to reach to a conclusion what is the nature of the relationship of Baloch with Pakistan. In the first place, Why Pakistan kept and contained Baloch in abject poverty despite being the owners of one of the richest lands on earth? Why should Baloch be on the perpetual course of struggle for rights when Pakistan says they’re a part of Pakistan?
Now that Pakistan has pushed them to the point of Survival Struggle, isn't it prudent to say that the best option for Baloch is to restore their sovereignty which they lost to Pakistani aggression in 1948, instead of having perpetual struggle for rights?
If depriving someone of one’s rights is a crime, then Pakistani state has been committing this to Baloch nation since 1948 to date. Then don’t you think Pakistani state deserves to be punished for its crimes?  What about dragging it to International Court of Justice in Hague for suppressing Baloch rights? If the hearing of Baloch case in International Court of Justice in Hague is not acceptable then what about Islamic sharia law which  says “May Allaah curse the thief who steals an egg and has his hand cut off, or steals a rope and has his hand cut off.” [Al-Bukhaari]. Whereas Pakistan, as it calls itself a so-called “Islamic State”, has been stealing Baloch natural resources for the past 68 years. Now in the light of Islamic Sharia Law Baloch reserve the rights to cut them free from Pakistani clutch as it has committed thievery in Balochistan.
It isn’t the case that Baloch didn’t struggle for rights within Pakistani ambit.
During 68 years’ occupation, there were many occasions when Baloch leadership resigned to Pakistani federalism and explored every avenue of democratic ways and means to gain the control of their own natural resources and be the master of their own fates. But Pakistan army, led by ultra-nationalist Punjabi Generals, has never reciprocated the genuine overtures of Baloch leaders for a graceful settlement.
Despite illegal occupation and years of despotic military rules since its inception, in 1973 when Pakistan army gave way to democratic process, Baloch leadership too welcomed it and participated in that process and with an overwhelming majority formed a provincial government.  However, as soon as Baloch leadership asserted itself as provincial authority and started owning the natural resources, the federal government, led by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto – the frightful Punjab army snob – dismissed it and imposed a governor rule at the behest of the army and civil bureaucrats on a miserable excuse of arms recovery at Iraqi embassy in Islamabad.
Then the Baloch rebelled and took to mountains and started a guerrilla war against Pakistani armed forces to restore their lost sovereignty to Pakistani aggression instead running after the mirage. During that war, the civil population was the main target of Pak army. People were abducted and killed in the dark dungeons of military torture cells, and in some cases they were thrown from high-flying helicopters or made to walk blindfolded to the edges of the high mountain cliffs and then the fall into pieces.
Again, in 1988 when Gen Zia’s mysterious death gave way to democratic process in Pakistan, this time too Baloch tried their luck and participated in the general elections; the nationalists won the provincial elections, however, when they were about to form a government, the entire provincial election results were turned null and void by so-called federation’s appointed governor, later, the apex court dismissed governor order and restored the election results.
At last, when the new provincial government was formed by Nawab Akber Khan Bugti, the bureaucracy in Islamabad, supervised by GHQ in Rawalpindi, did all that it could to turn Nawab’s government a failure. Later on this government too was toppled within a year by GHQ’s top pointed men in the assembly by withdrawing their supports. Dr Malik and Akhter Mengal were the main suspects of that dirty game.
During Nawaz Sharif’s second terms of office, the elder Baloch leaders, Nawab Bugti and Sardar Ataulla Khan Mengal with considerable Baloch mandate visited Islamabad and hoped that the past mistakes would be regretted by Nawaz government, as he was a Punjabi representative, and Baloch good will gesture will be recognized with genuine intention and their representation would be ensured by offering them one of the key posts, either the presidential slot or the senate’s chairmanship.  But as usual, the Punjabi elite, as arrogant as ultra-nationalist, could not come up to Baloch expectations. The Baloch leaders returned home empty handed. Do you know what impact it had on Baloch sociopolitical psyche?
When Gen Pervez Musharraf came in power through a military coup, he started Gwadar Deep Sea Mega Project with huge China’s financial help; but it threatened Baloch demographic setup. For, this project’s implications for Baloch identity as an existential threat were immense and the prospects of the influx of non-Baloch to Gwadar and the surrounding areas were beyond imagination! It gave a new reason to armed struggle which begun in 1999 when the prospects for democratic settlement were rather dim due to Gen Pervez led military takeover in Islamabad.
To begin with, in March 2005, the genuine Baloch leaders Nawab Akber Khan Bugti, Balach Marri and Gulam Mohammed presented 15 points of demand titled, Saving of Resources and Coast – for consideration as to how avoid the conflict from going to the conflagration, so that the decades-old conflict is resolved peacefully. The main demands were including a stop to Gwadar Deep Sea project as it had threatened Baloch demographic setup on their own soil, the second demand was to stop building military cantonments in Sui and other areas of Balochistan and third demand called upon Islamabad to remove all military check-posts across Balochistan. Now Instead of heeding to genuine Baloch demands, the khaki-man, Gen Musharraf thundered and said, “I will hit you [the Baloch leaders] in a way that you don’t know what hit you”.
The above precedents of Baloch acquiesce to democratic process for rights show that democratic gestures were also not acceptable to Punjab led Pakistan. Though, Baloch did their best to reconcile with Pakistani federal system, but ultra-nationalistic whim of Punjab left no stone unturned in aliening Baloch to utter dismay. Even in 2009, Baloch Liberation Army declared a unilateral ceasefire to give peace a chance. This was too squandered.
From Pakistani side, the answer to Baloch question is RAW.  There hardly goes a day by in Pakistani media when RAW is not blamed for Balochistan’s insurgency. Pakistani media, hardly reports the daily occurrence of events related to human rights abuses, has become the mouthpiece of state narratives specifically designed to exonerate Pakistan of its state crimes it sponsored and committed in Balochistan with great impunity thereby shifting the blame on India.
To assess the extent of Pakistani state crimes in Balochistan, one needs not go far away.  As recently as yesterday, Pakistan army gifted six mutilated dead bodies to Baloch mothers, they were found in Mashky and Hub town of Balochistan. Four bodies of previously abducted Baloch have been thrown from a helicopter in Gujar area of Mashky.  According to Balochwarna.com reports “The victims have been identified as Fida Baloch resident of Gujar Mashky who was reportedly abducted from his university hotel in Khuzdar on March 23, 2014, Adeel Iqbal Baloch resident of Faizabad Khuzdar, Abdul Qayum Baloch resident of Goharabad Quetta and Abdul Mohim resident of Nasirabad Kech Balochistan”.
Finally – being inspired by sophisticated Pakistani coin of Amen-Ki-Aasha – I would like to suggest to Indian government that the Indo-Pak joint statement in 2009 in Sharm el Sheikh on Balochistan issue provides a sound reason to India to ask Pakistan a favor if it allows Indian civil society members, comprising journalists, lawyers, actors, philanthropists and the parliamentarians to visit Balochistan and assess the ground realities themselves as to who is running Balochistan affairs, who is calling the shots, and who is behind Balochistan insurgency – India or Pakistani barbarism?

Tricky Pakistan – Balochistan’s Case, Ahmar’s Protest! Pathetic American Media !

By Archen Baloch
Although, the issue of Balochistan received huge international media coverage across the world when a Baloch activist, Ahmar Masti Khan, disrupted Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif last month during his speech in the US Institute of Peace by raising the slogan of FREE BALOCHISTAN and accusing him of war crimes in Balochistan and being friend of Bin Laden.
However, that event also laid bare the fact that there exists a US Institute that promotes peace but invites heads of rouge states like Pakistan to lecture the Western World about peace. Nawaz Sharif was justifying the policies of his state’s terrorism from nuclear threats and proliferation to harbouring terrorists like Osama Bin Laden, arming religious fanatics like Taliban and Lashkar e Tayyaba.
But no matter!  This is how the Americans used to run their foreign affairs. They know better than anyone else as they have a long strategic defense relationship with the Pakistani military. But to say that the American didn’t know that they were being deceived by Pakistan is exactly the same narrative as Pakistanis used to say they didn’t know OBL was in Pakistan or in the matter of nuclear proliferation when confronted, they started saying that the state was not involved, it was Dr Qadeer Khan who personally transferred the centrifuges to Iran, South Korea and Libya.
In both cases, as a master of all tricks, Pakistan weathered the storms by engaging its foxy natured diplomats in a non-confrontational game of acquiesce and submission.  They knew storms don’t long last. To weather them, one has to be extremely flexible and submissive till the end. All that it took were some diplomatic hullabaloos in the media and some exchanges of words between the military officers of the two countries. And the then the calm!
In fact, despite receiving a big boost in international media when Ahmar confronted Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif in the US Institute of Peace auditorium by registering his protest against Pakistani war crimes in Balochistan and calling for freedom of Balochistan, it was expected that the American media would give coverage this incident but they have chosen to remain silent. It is clear that to be hopeful that America would come out and support Baloch case in the near future is like living in a dream world. The reason is clear: Just a day before Ahmar’s protest, the New York times reported that America was selling F16 fighter Jets to Pakistan.
Definitely, in the end, these Jet fighters of F16 would ruthlessly be used to crush Baloch armed resistance against Pakistani occupation; as it has already been acknowledged by various reports that the American weapons indeed were being used to crush the secular Baloch instead of extremist religious forces, though, they were meant to crush the Taliban.
Geographically, Balochistan is a Part of South Asia, Middle East and Central Asia, if supported; it plays a vital role for peace in the region. Baloch, on their part as world peace partners, offered tremendous sacrifices to stop Pakistani and Iranian religious extremism in the region by opting for secular nationalism based on cultural and democratic values. Indeed, the emancipation of South Asia & Middle East from the grip of religious extremism lies in the success of secular free Balochistan slogan. But it seems that this slogan is a hard sell to world powers for moral and diplomatic support.
Again the reason is obvious: Baloch didn’t step out of their geographic national boundaries and adhered to international conventions and abide by international laws.

Balochistan: Saindak project oil Tankers attacked in Noshki

By Archen Baloch
QuettaTwo Tankers carrying oil for Saindak project were attacked and partially damaged at Jorkain area of Noshki Balochistan on Tuesday.
The Tankers were on their way to supply oil for electricity generators and other machinery at Saindak Gold & Copper Project in Chagai, when they came under attack.
Saindak Project in Balochistan is one of the biggest projects in Asia where a large number of Chinese engineers are engaged in excavation of Gold & Copper against the will of Baloch people.
In return not a single penny is offered to the Balochistan and it is largely run and controlled by federal government of Pakistan.
The loot and plunder of Baloch natural resources at the hands of Chinese companies is not limited to Balochistan’s Chagai district only where Pakistan conducted nuclear tests which caused mysterious diseases in the region.
The entire coastal belt of Balochistan has also been subcontracted to Chinese military in the name of CPEC for Pakistan’s security interest.
It is also worth mentioning that Baloch are despise to see China becoming Pakistan’s partner in looting Baloch natural resources and help Pakistan to intensify Baloch genocide.
Although no organisation has so far accepted the responsibility for the attack oil Tanker but such attacks are mostly carried out by the Baloch Sarmachars – the Baloch freedom fighters.
Meanwhile the Baloch Liberation Front claimed to have attacked a coast guard check post in Ormara Balochistan.
The BLF spokesperson, Gwahram Baloch, informed media sources that Baloch fighters attacked Maniji Camp situated on Gwadar coastal highway.
Mr Baloch in his statement claimed that six rockets were fired at the coast guards camp causing major damage to it.
He vowed that that such attack against Pakistani forces will continue until the freedom of Balochistan.

Three More Baloch Killed by Iranian occupying forces in Western Balochistan: Baloch Media

Zahedan- No abating of unprovoked extra judicial killings of Baloch people in Balochistan under illegal Iranian occupation۔  Within a span of  just three days 9 Baloch have been killed by unbriddled Iranian forces with no known reasons!

News Just broke in facebook social media when a Dubai based Baloch human rights activist, Mulla Majeed Al Baloushi posted the pictures of three Baloch who were killed by occupying Iranian Al Quds Revolutionary Guard during a house raid early Wednesday morning in the Ganj Kalat village to the western city of Nekshahr.

Mr Mulla also reported that two person of the same family been whisked away by the forces to an unknown place. The identities of these unfortunate Baloch are yet to be determined.

These killings took place in the same area of Iranshahr where yesterday we reported in our blog the killings of five unarmed Baloch in Iranshahr city hospital. Later we received reports through our sources that one of the victims’ unfortunate mother passed away due to heart failure, it happened when she received the news of her son, Nazeer Zardkohi, killing by Iranian forces.

The 181,785 km western Balochistan is the home of almost 3.5 million Baloch people is directly ruled by Tehran with no direct access to outer world. The entire population is living under abject poverty. This mistreatment has given rise to an indigenous insurgency led by Baloch youth seeking freedom from Persian rule on their homeland.

Iranian Forces Kill Five Baloch Extra Judicially!

Sarbaaz- The theocratic colonial Iranian regime has pushed the extra Judicial killings of Baloch people to extreme limits in western Balochistan.

According to information five Baloch youths were found dead in Iranshahr local hospital on Monday with severe torture marks on their bodies in western Balochistan. The local reports citing the family sources say they were picked up by Iranian security forces from their homes in different area Iranshahr city.  They were indentified as Nazir Zardkohi, Mohsan Baloch, Hamid Zardkohi and Khalid Seyahani and Hoshang Zardkohi.

Earlier on Thursday a local, Shaheen Baloch was killed in the similar manner by Iranian security forces and his dead bodies was found in Chahbahar city hospital bearing severe torture marks with no apparent reasons.

Iron curtained Western Balochistan is a no go area for international Media. Imagining of access to a proper judicial system in Iran for oppressed Baloch and other nationalities is a luxurious thinking for civilized world.

Political opponents are often arrested and killed in torture cells or executed on streets with false allegations such as Muharibs or drug smugglers.

Western Balochistan under Iranian control is currently witnessing an Insurgency against Iran it occupied in 1928 when Mir Dost Mohammed Khan Barakzai was ruling.

High Time For a Collective National Poltiical Forum

10/04/2015
Press Release
The security situation in Middle East, the region of which our homeland is an important part, is deteriorating day by day from bad to worst. And our nation is adversely being affected from all sides. If our leadership did not perceive the immediate danger looming on us, we would unavoidably be sucked in it caught unprepared.

In the volatile waters of Middle Eastern geopolitics, we can safely navigate our battered ship of freedom movement to the shore of our destiny, if only our leaders adopted the approach of NATIONAL STRUGGLE instead of PARTY POLITICS.

Collective strength of our nation is what we need the most today to face the brutality of the enemy.
It is said desperate situations call for desperate measures. I urge all pro freedom forces to bury the hatchet and explore all possible ways and means of a road map that leads us to a common ground where we can narrow down our differences and purge a  COLLECTIVE  NATIONAL POLITICAL  FORUM that can make sure that our collective national strength is in place to regain our lost sovereignty.
