Pakistan’s Containment Policy of Baloch Resistance Movement

By Archen Baloch The current tense and volatile political situation in Balochistan has plunged Pakistan into an uncertain future. Unlike other non-secessionist Poshtun and Sindhi nationalists, Baloch were/are feared the most and regarded as die-hard nationalists all along the 60 years, for they have never accepted the forced annexation with Pakistan in the name of Islam. To contain Baloch insurgency, various illegal, unpolitical, unpopular and inhumane punitive measures are being applied to stop it from secession from the unnatural federation of Pakistan .but “international community” is oblivious of it. Disproportionate use of force, including air fighters, gunship helicopters, tanks, chemical weapons sees no abating for the past 5 years. Political workers are intimated by MI and ISI with the warning of grave consequences. And the arrested political workers are never allowed to stand fear trail in the courts...even senators and members of parliament are not exempt of it. Senator Sana Baloch fled Balochistan as he was about to be arrested by military regime. Those who have been picked up by agencies are never made to appear in public and tortured beyond recognition and their battered bodies are thrown onto the roadside and then police ordered to arrest them under 3MPO.designed as an instrument to crush Baloch struggle for independence . Corrupt civil servants are blackmailed for not doing their duties and made to spy for MI and ISI Particularly in education, health and police departments. Registered contractors are allowed to make corruption so that they could use them for morbid interest of engineered elections and for spying purposes in future.  Members of provincial and national assemblies are easy prey for ISI and IM to trap them into future use of blackmailing. If one got the title of ex-minister, he would be regarded as a congenial salve of the regime because of his corruptions, and would be used to serve the political maneuverings of the establishment as a trade horse. Europe is flooded with opium and all its money, in millions dollars, goes to whose accounts and this money serving whose purposes? Under heavy escort of FC, frontier corps, tons of opium being traffic to Europe every day. And the local drug mafias are issued ID card under “Afghans Chapter” to serve state’s clandestine activities. They are involved in arresting thousands of Baloch political workers in all over Balochistan. All FC forces are funded by drug money which comes from Europe. And their sole task is to terrorize and crush the resistance movement. Mullahs, the second force of Pakistan after its armed forces have now started, in  their sermons in mosques and promotional gatherings, calling West unbeliever after the Soviets Union, as enemy of Islam and warning Baloch that all nationalist are  agents of America  and they should not be following them as they are involve in conspiracy against the “Islamic emirate” Pakistan. Al Qaeda’s leader Osama is still at large along with mullah Omer and the battle against Taliban and Al Qaeda is taking a backwards trend in tribal areas as Pakistan cannot efforts to take on two types of Guerilla wars at the same time in Balochistan and Waziristan.  It has to abandon one at the cost of other one. The Tribal Poshtun Taleban is not a secessionist. They could be pacified by religious political parties as long as Moulana Fazal ul Rehman is holding the high office of opposition leader in the national assembly. But Baloch are not so religious ones as to pacify them by a mullah. So therefore the bulk of Pakistani army deployed in tribal Waziristan is going to be deployed in Balochistan in coming months. The intensity of war in Balochistan is also going to increase. Mullahs’ are also going to side with Pakistan army. Pakistan with its conspiratorial nature is netting a game of demographic change in Balochistan. Coastal areas are particular target for this purpose as to populate non- Baloch in Balochistan from Punjab, and the Ismailis Mohajirs Urdu speaking settlers from Sindh. The change of demographic setup of Balochistan eventually leads to a minority group which cannot assert its sovereignty over its motherland. This was what which led to war the true nationalist Baloch against occupying Pakistani forces, and challenged the imperialistic Chinese morbid interest. Thanks to resistance movement, they had to eat the humble pie. Media blackout is being observed in all over Balochistan; no foreign media have excess to see into Balochistan what is happening in it. Only local media is allowed to report govt version of limited reporting of big events. Even private Urdu speaking radio and TV channels are influenced by government restrictions. Worst of all, even some Western media broadcasting in Urdu are affected by dominant Punjabi factor. Punjabi factor is at work to suffocate the Baloch voice. To counter government propaganda, Baloch nationalist have no electronic media accept internet which is inaccessible for vast majority of poverty stricken Baloch people. Balochi language is spoken in all over world by 40.5 million people yet they have no satellite TV channel of their own. This makes their voice unheard of. A satellite TV channel can make a big difference, because it can easily transit the true version of events and facts, with promotional work of Baloch culture, to its people and the world community. Munir Mengal is still languishing behind the bars for the sin of having a Balochi TV channel for his people, for the past one and half year. In Western world, Pakistani propaganda to defame Baloch national struggle, has had no negative effect on its momentum. But the Great British, by proscribing BLA as a terrorist organization, has puzzled the Baloch nationalist political parties. The scant attention of world community toward plight of Baloch people, so far, has been encouraging to Pakistani military regime, in hitting hard the Baloch resistance movement. If the fifth insurgency of Baloch national movement not succeeded and the fanatic mullahs won over it, the whole region and the world as well would face grim consequences.  Today the  secular forces have morally and politically  defeated the  fanatics  in Balochistan, but now it is high time for “world community” to act and support  the secular  Baloch national movement proactively so that it regain and  restore its sovereignty over its motherland Balochistan. The World community must understand that if it wants to get rid of religious extremism, it has to support and encourage secular and pure nationalist movements. West also need to re- exam its naïve policy towards Pakistan, as its military establishment still using and promoting Islam to save Pakistan from disintegration, otherwise there is no logic for world community to keep up with a country of military, not a country of people, which turns around and proliferates nuclear weapon to undemocratic regimes in the world. The West should revoke the economic relief, it offered to Pakistan, after 9-11 for the war against the terrorism. All economic relief it gets from west are meant to build its military (militancy) power stronger and stronger. Baloch are its prime target as they want their motherland to be separated from Pakistani federation. Pakistan, which was created by British Empire at the time of its departure from Indian subcontinent just to serve the Great Brittan’s future interests, has failed and delivered nothing except religious extremism and proliferation of WMD in the world. It has trespassed all moral and democratic boundaries of civilized world. Now it is high time for world community to put an end to economic aid to “the military country” of the world!!

A Letter to the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace   Dear Sir As a political and social worker, with great concern, I would like to inform you that we Baloch are being pushed into a religious circle by Pakistani military junta and Iranian theocratic regime in Balochistan in a unusual way: Promoting Islam among Baloch and thereby the killing of Baloch nationalism and turning it into a greater part of Islamic world. Fanatic Mullaism is proactively being promoted by the collaboration of discarded local mullahs in Balochistan against the Baloch nationalism which seeks the restoration of its national sovereignty over Balochistan. Yesterday on July 31, a “tabligi ijtama" that is, promotional gathering for Islam, has started its gathering in Gwadar, a coastal port city in Balochistan, Such religious activities are always taking place in all over Balochistan, and this phenomenon suggest a new conspiracy against Baloch and is seen by nationalist  as second force of Pakistani government after its arms forces. After the failure of Paki army in crushing the Baloch Resistance movements, now it wants dilute the intensity of Baloch nationalism by mobilizing the religious elements in our society. All these activities are funded by I S I and spearheaded by Mulana Sherani of Jumayat Ulme Islam. He is a member of Pakistan national assembly and he heads JUI in Balochistan. The striking concern is that Iran is also involved in promoting mullahs among Baloch people. for example a common Baloch who wants to visit his relatives on the other side of the boarder the irani occupied Balochistan, has to go through harsh scrutiny by Pasdarane Inqalab, the Revolutionary Guard. But on the other hand those who want to participate in a religious gathering in Pakistani held Balochistan have to face no restrictions, they can pass the boarder without any document or "Rahdari" permit.
